Friday Fictioneers: Mr Overton

Its been a while, I’m back; i’ve been stuck in a fug of hopelessness, but thank God Rochelle is holding this thing together, and with that I thought I’d have a bash again, get me tackle out and see what bites. Its 100 words, with some sort of narrative and a point to it (which I may struggle with) anyway, congrats to Roger Bultot for providing the shot we have to write around and lets get cracking.

On My Marks…

Get set…

GO!!!

“Its a beautiful palace, totally beautiful, some people say the most beautiful…I don’t know…probably…”

Mango Maniac was drooling again, same shit, less coherent than every time before. He’d mobilised the army; cities under weird siege overnight.

“Its a beautiful thing, some people say the most beautiful… I don’t know…”

Things were changing, shifting day by day.

“I met a guy, clever guy; Overton… He tells me we have to move the window… Can we… I think we can move the window?”

He gesticulates.

YMCA plays; crowds cheer.

There we are, 100 words about the idiot and his movement of the political discourse. Christ help us all.

  1. Great use of the prompt and humorous play on Overton’s window. It amazes me how easy that man is to mock because he is so simple and idiotic and yet people follow and elevate him, I’m either in the twilight zone or it is indeed the end of times.
